Jason Lytle from Grandaddy is comin’ to Perth

Well, this isn’t a Burgers post. But it is a Burgers related post. You see, some Burgers played an integral role in getting lead ‘Daddy to make it to Perth. Furthermore, awesome Burgers side projects ‘The Gizzards’ & ‘Chimp’ will be supporting. So you really should come to this gig. It’s going to be really awesome.

And in case you need some more encouragement…

A Burger with sides

Whilst on holidays recently, Blainie Burger discovered a nifty little App on her iPad called ‘iStopMotion’. So excited was she, that she immediately purchased it, and began work on a new secret project. This project was a cute video clip for her side-project Chimp. The song is called ‘Cutest Dog in the Werld’, and whilst the recording (and vocals) are a little bit on the budget side at the moment (it was after all, just meant to be a demo), the video clip more than makes up for it. Anyway, enough rambling. Here’s the clip. Enjoy! (stay tuned for a new Burgers video too soon!)

Celebrate New Year’s Eve Eve with tha Burgers

Yes, you read that correctly New Year’s Eve, Eve. That is Friday 30th December 2011.

Not only will it be a celebration of almost the end of the year, but we will also be celebrating the opening of the coolest new music store in town, Unknown Treasures. Located at Shop 199 Conventry Square Markets, Morley, Unknown Treasures sells new & used vinyl, CD’s, DVD’s  as well as a range of clothing, books and music memorabillia.

These celebrations will be taking place at Ya Ya’s in Northbridge.  Come down and sign up for free membership to Unknown Treasures which entitles you to instore discounts. There will also be prizes to be won on the night! Hurrah!

The fantastic Cape Town Lullaby will be the first band to take the stage, then Burgers of Beef will strut their stuff.

The usual Supersonic DJ’s Likely Lads and Lady Libertine will be spinning all the greatest indie and alternative anthems to get your feet moving – including a set from special guest Zero Interest.

$5 entry, doors open 8pm – 2am.

Hope to see you there!

Would You Come see Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) if he came to Perth?????

Ok, so Grandaddy have been big faves around the Burgers camp for many years. Some years ago, Blainie & Chad even went on a pilgrimage to see them play 2 shows in Melbourne. They were freakin’ awesome btw. So anyway, lead ‘Daddy Jason Lytle is touring the Eastern States in February 2012. We are trying hard to convince him (& local venues) that he should come to Perth. So in an effort to gauge the interest of Perth folk we are conducting a poll. Please answer.

Another Burgers gig! ! !

So Burgers will totally be playing another gig soon – a Christmas gig in fact! Not quite a Christmas album (maybe next year, hey?) but close enough. Here are the deets:

Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Velvet Lounge, Mt Lawley from 7:00pm until 12:00am

And the totally sweet line up is:

- Umpire
- The Autumn Isles
- Burgers of Beef
- the wine-dark sea
- The Sensitive Drunks
- Leon Ewing
- Ten Bit Tonsil
and special guest MC Byron Bard

So this is going to be a great night, and what better way to start celebrating Christmas a little early. Cos let’s face it, Christmas is usually a bit lame anyway.

A Gig Retrospective Part 1: The Early Years

You may or may not be aware that Burgers of Beef have been slogging it out as a band for just over ten (10) years now. In that time, we have played around 120 or so gigs. And yes, it is true, I have kept notes on each and every one of these shows (..well ok, ALMOST all of them, there may be a few I have missed) And so, instead of just keeping this fascinating information to myself, and flicking through it on occasion, remembering the (mostly) good  times, I thought, that I would share it with you all, so you can all reminisce about the gigs you were at, or regret the ones you missed.

Part 1: The Early Years….

1) 16th September 2001 @ Hyde Park Hotel, North Perth, with The Stickfigures & Andrew and Geoff from Adam Said Galore

This was the Burgers debut performance at a pub. Technically our first show was a few weeks earlier at a friend’s party. It was hailed a success (by us anyway) and Chad and I went on to drink all the beer, sitting on the couch right by the stage heckling the Stickfigures.
