That explains it. Sounds like you have good reason to be bitter about the gig.

The only “family friendly” gig I did was with The Doozers at Minawarra Park in Armadale for a band comp of some kind. We were told not to swear or sing about anything offensive. We couldn’t do much about the offensive thing because most of our songs were about getting drunk, but I was planning to cut out the obscenities … except that when we were setting up I accidentally shouted “Fuck You” at our guitarist through the microphone. There was no music to help cover it up and there actually were quite a few families and kids.

Not my proudest moment.

Apparently “he’ll suck your blood” are not suitable lyrics to be sung to a family crowd. (There were no families btw, there were no anyone, actually) Despite the fact that most of these ‘families’ probably watch Twilight or whatever. And despite the fact that the music played in between our sets was full of R n B obscenities. Oh and the cover band playing after us were playing an assorted array of much more inappropriate songs. But it’s ok, because songs aren’t offensive if they are popular. (end rant)
